Attendance

Good attendance at school is the single most important factor to ensure that young people have the maximum life chances – attendance is strongly linked to educational achievement. Promoting positive school attendance is everyone’s responsibility.

Good attendance is important in order for children to:

-      Achieve their potential.

-      Develop a positive attitude towards school and maintain good habits of punctuality and attendance.

-      See themselves as an important part of the school community and to value and respect school life.

Schools recognise that this can only be achieved through a close partnership with parents.

Attendance Policy

The start of the school day

Children should not arrive at school before 8.40am. A member of staff will be on duty at the front of school to greet to welcome all children when the gate opens at 8:40am.  Children can come straight into the classroom and registers are taken promptly at 8:50am

At the end of the school day

School finishes at 3.20pm.  All children are escorted to the front of school by a member of staff and await collection by parents.  Written permission must be given to the class teacher if children can leave the school premises by themselves.  Children travelling home by school bus are supervised by a member of staff onto the bus who checks seating and seat belts.

When a child is absent from school

When your child is ill we ask that you ring the office as soon as possible on the first day of absence to inform us. There is an option to leave an absence message on the school telephone system. If we are not informed of the reason for your child's absence, staff will ring to enquire about the reason for your child’s absence.
