Once again it has been a very busy month in school which started with our NSPCC Maths curriculum enrichment day
Class 1 really enjoyed number day this year, we worked in pairs in the hall to complete a carrousel of activities
focusing on place value and numbers up to 20, we also completed some puzzles to challenge our understanding of
shape!
The EYFS children loved making ladybird biscuits with a focus on counting and cardinality of counting.

What a fabulous start to the New Year and Spring term 2025!

Learning is back in full swing after the Christmas Holidays and already many events have taken place in our 2025 diary.

Phoebe and Niamh in Year 5 represented Husthwaite CE Primary School at South Kilvington CE Primary School for the start of a two year Elevate MAT Church Schools project. Nine church schools gathered from across the Elevate MAT to attend a workshop from the Diocese on developing Collective Worship in our schools even further. We look forward to their next meeting where they will formulate a plan of action. They will keep us posted…

Another busy month which started with marking National Anti-bullying week. This year the theme ‘Choose Respect’ is already a part of our school culture as Respect is one of our school Christian values. Odd socks Day is always a favourite for the children celebrating that we are all different, we should be ourselves, accepting of one another and celebrate difference.

Thank you also for supporting the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal raising £167.05.

We marked Remembrance Day with our 2 minutes silence remembering those who lost their lives serving in the two word wars and other conflicts. We raised a fabulous £167.05 for The British Legion, a huge thank you to all.

We all have most certainly had a very busy month!
Our first pupil voice meetings of this academic year were held and Year 1 children had their first experience of
working in their groups:
Epic Improvers, Healthy Schools, Money Makers and HEGG (Husthwaite Eco Gardening Group)
HEGG braved the rain and began the year by checking all the areas and trees that have been planted around the site.
The wildlife area needed most work. The pond area has mostly been completed, there will be some pond plants to be
added in Spring but the stones and new pond are all in place as well as the cover to stop too many leaves during
Autumn. The pond was topped up as well after the water levels had dropped during Summer

What a fabulous start to the new academic year! All our children, old and new have settled in so well to their new year groups. It is so lovely as always to see our older children supporting our youngest and the buzz and love of learning fills our school once again after the summer break. Yesterday we celebrated European Languages Day…
